Mozambique is struggling with a financial and economic crisis. After his pleas for help went unheeded by Europe, President Nyusi is now hoping for a bailout from China.

Mozambique’s head of state Filipe Nyusi is under heavy pressure. For months he had been denying media reports about financial scandals, corruption and misappropriation of state monies. But in April Nyusi had to own up to hidden public debt to the tune of 1.25 billion euro ($1.4 billion), accumulated by his predecessor and mentor Armando Guebuza. Nyusi’s admission further highlighted the depth of the country’s economic crisis.

The president and his government are facing a dire financial crisis. Nyusi is trying to win time and secure his political survival with fresh loans from China.

（ANGOP）Brasilia – Angola and Brazil extended for another year the technical cooperation agreement in the training of Angolan staff in aquaculture techniques and management of fishing resources.
The agreement is between the Institute for Development of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IPA) and the Brazilian Development Company of Vale de São Francisco and Parnaíba (Codevasf) of the Ministry of National Integration.
The Cooperation between the IPA and CODEVASP began in 2012 with the regular sending of Angolan technicians to integrated centers of the Brazilian company, where for six months seized techniques of artificial propagation and breeding of fish, environmental conservation,etc.

(Agence Ecofin) – La compagnie minière Xtract Resources a déclaré une hausse de 36%, à 1,26 million d’onces des ressources aurifères de son projet Manica au Mozambique. Cette nouvelle estimation fait suite à une étude technique des ressources minérales du gisement Fair Bride du projet, réalisée par la société Minxcon Projects fournissant des compétences en construction de projets miniers.

La société a en outre souligné que les résultats de cette étude seront intégrés à l’étude de faisabilité bancable du projet, en cours d’achèvement.

« Non seulement la teneur en or a augmenté de manière significative, mais le volume total de ressources mesurées et indiquées disponibles pour exploitation, a également augmenté de 56%. Avec d’autres forages, la durée de vie de la mine peut être augmentée à plus de 12 ans», a déclaré le CEO de la compagnie, Jan Nelson.

Le projet Manica est situé à 4km, au nord de la ville du même nom au Mozambique, près de la frontière avec le Zimbabwe. Il couvre une concession de 75km2 et est détenu à 100% par Xtract Resources.

（ANGOP）Luanda – The Luanda Entrepreneurial Association will hold on 7-9 July, this year, in Viana Municipality, its first congress, ANGOP has learnt.
According to a note from the institution, the forum will be sponsored by the Central Executive and will get the support of the Luanda Province Government. It is to be attended by seventeen associations linked to this sector.
The congress intends to make a contribution to the economic and social development of Luanda Province in particular, and Angola in general, principally in the domains of industry, trade, boosting the intervention of female entrepreneurship, rural and environmental development, as well as civil engineering and public works.
The congress will have panels with themes like “Modernisation and functioning of the financial system”, “The Angolan businessperson, constraints and opportunities”, “Public contracts, foreign investment and commercial co-operation”, and “Industrial sector, challenges facing national production, constraints and opportunities”.

(Agence Ecofin) – Le gouvernement du Nigeria a décidé concéder l’exploitation de quatre aéroports internationaux, dans le cadre de la première phase d’un important programme de réforme de son secteur de l’aviation apprend-t-on de sources médiatique locale.
le ministre nigérian de l’aviation, Hadi Sirika a déclaré la liste des quatre aéroports (Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt et Kano), le 16 mai, lors du forum 2016.
Selon le ministre, la participation du secteur privé permettra d’améliorer les services dans les aéroports nigérians, dont les installations actuelles ne répondent pas aux normes internationales et aux meilleures pratiques de l’industrie de l’aviation.
Par ailleurs, Hadi Sirika a fait savoir qu’après cette première phase qui consiste en la mise en concession de ces quatre aéroports, le gouvernement nigérian allait prêter une attention particulière à l’équipement en infrastructures et au développement des aéroports nigérians en vue d’optimiser leurs performances.
